Athena Project is an artificial intelligence platform that encourages the sharing of unbiased information, powered by cryptocurrency.

Cliff Notes

A student came to us with a background interest in coding, specifically involving artificial intelligence, and with some previous experience in projects.

The student had previously coded a project that gives a rough idea at a media article’s bias by cross-referencing it to other areas of the Internet. Ivy Brothers helped the student to name his project the Athena Platform, as Athena is renowned for her wisdom, and our student sought a world that was wiser in its consumption of world events.

The Passion Project

Ivy Brothers helped the student develop a cryptocurrency.

The Ivy Brothers helped him the student to take his platform a step further, developing the idea of a social network in which users are rewarded, or tipped, with a currency in exchange for consistently posting truthful, positive information. This aligned with his vision, for a more understanding and truthful world.

For Athena, the cryptocurrency token, we made the decision to use the blockchain Solana. One of the driving reasons for this decision was its consensus mechanism, which is, to those who are not tech savvy, a protocol that determines whether or not the network will consider a particular transaction. Solana's PoS, or Proof of Stake, system relies on Byzantine Fault Tolerance called Tower Consensus. Tower Consensus leverages PoH, or Proof of History, as a global source of time before consensus is achieved in order to reduce latency. This allows the network to carry out up to 50,000 transactions per second, making it perfect for his platform that operates in the ever-changing, rapid pace of world news. A world that rewards trustworthy information demands a scalable solution, which was a key factor in our decision-making for this project.

Finally, the Ivy Brothers helped the student with testing of the project, successfully performing thousands of transactions on the network, and helping him with a marketing campaign that yielded hundreds of followers.

The Ivy Brothers helped the student reach out to relevant areas of University of Pennsylvania, such as the Computational Social Science Lab and programs in AI for Business. In the end, with our help, guidance, and connections, the student leveraged our database to reach out to numerous people. In the end, Ivy Brothers helped the student receive recognition from prestigious professors from FactCheck.org associated with the University of Pennsylvania, the Annenberg Center, Duke Media Reporters’ Lab. The student was even asked by one of the researchers to assist on a paper, which helped him to stand out to admission officers.
